Cliff-top cottage |
Chesapeake Bay MD |

|
Scientists Cliffs was founded in 1935 as a summer colony for university– and government scientists. Gradually, it has become more of a year round community, but it retains the modest, rustic feel of its original log cabin structures. The expanded cottage uses many devices to fit in unobtrusively with its neighbors, including a dormer that mimics the gable ends of log cabins on adjacent lots; a roof that sweeps down close to grade, and continued use of simple wood and shingle materials. |
