Boise solar house

Boise City, ID

Photo of south-facing rear of the house.

Metal-clad roof slopes down to the south, ready for photovoltaic panels.  Large ground floor openings and ventilating skylights at high point of two-story living room provide path for efficient natural ventilation.  Patio at southeast corner is sheltered from prevailing wind and from harsh late afternoon sun, but welcomes breakfast and lunch time sunlight and provides a good view of moonrise.  Kitchen, dining room, living room, and guest bedroom all enjoy a long view to the south over the City of Boise.
